Dequandre Williams

Dequandre Williams – or Chef Dre (pronounced DRAY) – as he is known, is CEO and

Executive Chef of Signature Plates, which he opened five years ago. Signature Plates offers

catering services for personal or business needs. Its services range from the most elegant affair to

a business luncheon or a picnic at the park.

Chef Dre, now 26, first showed an interest in the culinary field when he was 14. He discovered a

passion for cooking and delighted in preparing a full range of dishes. On a whim, and at his

Aunt’s urging, he entered the Kendall College Ready, Set, Go competition. Despite being the

only competitor without a crew to help prepare the required dish, Dre won first place.

After that, he was on an upwards trajectory. He won first place in the CCAP(Career through

Culinary Arts Program) competition. He also won the 2018 "Windy CIty" Say Cheese Festival

Competition.

He took courses at Kendall College and is a 2013 alum of the Career Through Culinary Arts

Program.

His culinary background includes serving as:

Chief Instructor of Gallery37

Private Chef for the Chicago Bears and Chicago Fire Soccer team

Executive Chef for Embassy Suites Hotel (Schaumburg),

Pastor Bill Winston’s Executive Chef for Harvest 365 Restaurant & Grill,

Executive Chef for Thirsty Pig BBQ

Committed to service, Chef Dre *Fed 1000 Hungry families in response to the recent closing of

seven grocery stores. He also cooked and served food for the homeless during this pandemic

He is a spokesperson for Real Men Cook and says he loves the organization because it includes

men coaching men to be fathers and mentoring men to be future entrepreneurs.

He reserves his greatest praise for noted and veteran Chef Cliff Rome, who has been an

inspiration. Rome is owner of Rome’s Joy Catering and owner of several Chicago restaurants.

Chef Rome also gives back by mentoring future chefs.

Dre is the father of two boys: Noah and Isaiah, five and three. He relishes being a father raising

them to be strong, proud African-American men.
